New Years Eve Makeover

I'm leaving 2011 on a high by treating a dear friend to a vintage inspired makeover. I love being creative so couldn't wait to get started. I filmed a little bit of footage too. Hopefully my debut will be shown on YouTube at a computer near you soon!
Caught doing my intro!

Hair

There's nothing like being on the last minute! I promised myself ages ago to invest in some decent curling tongs. However, leaving it until New Years Eve to search for some probably isn't the best idea for someone usually so organised .

Babyliss Pro Stylist Dial-a-Heat Tongs

Lucky for me a beauty wholesaler in Wigan was open for business, so I armed myself with the latest curling tongs, hair sprays and a variety of hair grips. I've been studying my Vintage Hairstyling book lately. Mainly because I'm going on a course in January and I want to be prepared.

'Vintage Hairstyling' by Lauren Rennells
This fabulous book is jam packed with a choice of beautiful retro looks that, as a novice stylist, I am happy to report, are quite easy to follow.
'For The Boys' our choice for this makeover
Here's my friend as she arrives. She's naturally pretty but we wanted GLAMOUR .... especially for New Years Eve!
Natural beauty
First step: Hair! I decided against rollers (as per book instructions), firstly because I didn't have time to dampen the hair and wait for it to dry in rollers and secondly, I'd just bought new curling tongs and wanted to use them.
Roll and secure with pins
Second Step: Makeup! It's glamour all the way. A 1950s classic look. Winged eyeliner, beauty mark and Rockette Red lippy from Rockalily.
Concealer Pencil from Susan Posnick
I used Navy Liquid Eyeliner from E.L.F
  • Foundation - L'Oreal Infallible, Porcelain.
  • Pressed Powder - Jane Iredale, Pure Matte
  • Powder Blush  - Jane Iredale, Barely Rose.
  • Eyebrows - Jane Iredale, Black/Brown Cream to Powder
  • Eyeshadow - Jane Iredale, EyeSteppes (for brown eyes)
  • Individual Eyelashes (on the outer corners only)
Beautiful!
Cute!
Classy!
Vintage!

Right side!
Rear of the Year!
My work is done! I hope you like the finished results. I'd love to hear your comments. All the best to one and all. Here's to a happy, healthy and not forgetting glamourous 2012!
Ciao Bellas! xx
